Performance Project

Creative workshops for people who are over 50 and deafened, hard of hearing.


Thursday mornings 10.30am – 12pm
Nov 4, 11, 18, 25, Dec 2, 9,
Jan 13, 20, 27, Feb 3, 10, 17
The Festival Theatre, Edinburgh

You don’t need any experience to take part and you won’t be expected to stand up on stage (unless you want to). The workshops are designed to be enjoyable and sociable for individuals with hearing loss.

Refreshments will be provided and there will be communication support at all workshops.

Next week from 28 June – 4 July, RNID, along with UK Council on Deafness (UKCoD) and National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) are launching Deaf Awareness Week (DAW) across the UK. ??

Be careful and take a note about it. Will the BBC mention it???

Air Iomlaid (On Exchange)


We've just enjoyed an excellent tour at the Fruitmarket Gallery. The gallery is exhibiting some stunning drawing by primary school children from Edinburgh and Skye produced as part of their education programme.

Its an excellent exhibition and as someone on the tour said, much more enjoyable when the work is explained - especially so enthusiastically.

Good news - the exhibition is on until the 9th May and every Friday there is an informal drop in tour at 2pm. A portable loop system is available, contact bookshop@fruitmarket.co.uk to book.

All bookings will be taken by the staff at the Information Desk in the Weston Link/ Garden level of the National Gallery Complex in person or by ringing 0131 624 6560.
A portable loop system is available on all tours listed

National Gallery

Do you know that there are lecturers and talks at the National Gallery almost every day?
They are free and interesting. Portable loops (I use headphones because they are better for my hearing) are provided. They organise also tours ( I reccommend "Mertoun House Tours") and workshops (I'll attend the "Monthly Life Drawing Class in May).
